Small Business Subcontracting
The Atec Group of Companies’ policy is to maximize the support and utilization of small business concerns in all our procurement actions. We value and support diversity as beneficial to the progress, stability and growth of our society and innovation in the marketplace. As a prime contractor with the U.S. Air Force, Atec and VLI are committed to upholding the requirements for Small Business Subcontracting per Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.219-9. We strive to achieve our small business goals by providing practicable opportunities to award subcontracts and other procurement actions to small and small disadvantaged businesses, HUBZone, women- and veteran-owned businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses. We do this through community and business outreach, and through developing subcontractors by identifying opportunities within our companies that match the supplier’s capabilities.
Additionally, we maintain a record of each subcontractor’s self-certification of small business status. These self-certifications are required at a minimum on an annual basis or in the event of a change in ownership status or size classification.
To be considered a U.S. small business for subcontracting purposes, a company must be organized for profit, independently owned and operated, not dominant in its field of operation, operating primarily in the U.S. or making a significant contribution to the U.S. economy, and must meet the size standard for the product or service it is providing under the terms of its subcontract or purchase order.
